Taghazout is a small fishing village 20 km north of Agadir that has grown into one of Africa's premier surf destinations. Breaks like Hash Point, Anchor Point and Killer Point draw surfers from around the world, particularly from October to April when the Atlantic swells peak. The village retains much of its original character — colourful boats, argan oil sellers and rooftop cafés looking out over the ocean.

Just north of Taghazout, the modern Taghazout Bay resort has added high-end hotels and a golf course to the area, expanding the destination beyond its surf roots. Imsouane, 65 km further north, is famous for hosting the world's longest right-hand wave and is a popular day trip from Taghazout.
